CARICOM has failed West Indies cricket, 1995-2022

 Bangladesh defeated West Indies sweeping the three matches ODI series in a most emphatic manner at Providence in Guyana. But that’s not the focus of this exercise. The result was not at all surprising. Indeed Bangladesh underperformed in the test and T20 series. Bangladesh failed those of us who want CWI to make drastic changes in policy behaviors and implementation of a different culture of cricket in the region.

 Forgone conclusion – Desmond Haynes, Jimmy Adams, Phil Simmons and coaching staff will be given more opportunities by CWI to further embarrass West Indies supporters. This truth warrior applauds the supporters who chose to voice their opposition to the current atrocity masquerading as West Indies cricket.  This truth warrior is confident a current Guyanese team led by Shimron Hetmyer including Sherfane Rutherford, Chandrapaul Hemraj and Veerasammy Permaul  can convincingly defeat full strength Bangladesh teams in series of matches in the three international formats of the game in Guyana. And more over huge crowds would be in the stands.

This truth warrior is so tired of the continuum of losses, embarrassment and lack of accountability and transparency of CWI. The surprise is neither Phil Simmons nor Roddy Estwick has blamed Shimron Hetmyer for the defeats at Providence in Guyana. Go ahead CWI applaud Desmond Haynes, Jimmy Adams, Phil Simmons and coaching staff and give the votes of confidence and blame the players for the defeat at providence and praise them for winning elsewhere. Mediocrity knows no bounds.

Best case scenarios

This truth warrior is saying;

 CWI must replace the dinosaurs - Desmond Haynes, Jimmy Adams, Phil Simmons and coaching staff with folks 5-9 years retired from international cricket. Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Sammy and/or similar former cricketers need to replace those previously mentioned.

CWI must abolish selection panel. Coaching staff must be the selectors and be held accountable for fitness and performance of players and themselves. Coaching staff as selectors must be forced to be transparent by publishing list of top choices and depth charts of every type of skill set available in the West Indies suitable for the three international formats of the game.

CWI must only offer performance contracts based on series and match reviews

CWI must exterminate the culture of political and ethnic cleavages in selection of teams, squads and employees.

CWI must practice accountability and transparency of decision making processes.

CWI must arrest the culture and continuance of losing cricket and the nonsense of half full glass performances.

CWI must ensure the best cricketers are available for every series. In current times, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Gudakesh Motie, Veerasammy Permaul and Nicholas Pooran must be consistently available for test, ODIs and T20 matches.   Sunil Narine needs to be available for ODIs and T20 matches.

This truth warrior charges CARICOM has failed West Indies cricket, 1995-2022.  He put it to CARICOM to sponsor franchises in CWI competitions of  first class, ODIs and T20 matches Perhaps two or four more entities in first class, ODIs and T20 matches would make available enough talent selectors over looked in the six teams scenario which may become difference makers in international cricket. CWI must sponsor its own 8 or 10 franchises T20 competition devoid of foreign cricketers beginning in 2022.  This truth warrior thinks teams must be comprised of at least seven locals and four regional players and captained by locals.
