Forbes Burnham and Sampson and Sancho of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara?

Forbes Burnham and Sampson and Sancho of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara?

The credentials of Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham (1923 –1985) as an advocate for anti-colonial rhetoric and acts were never in doubt. Also, there was no question Forbes Burnham was anti-European. Forbes Burnham exhibited the influences of Winston Churchill (1874 –1965) and Niccolo Machiavelli (1469 –   1527).  Burnham copied and parroted the phrasings of Winston Churchill. he also adopted the philosophy of Niccolo Machiavelli; especially as expressed in the publication “The Prince.”  The book was written in 1505, and published in 1515.  It is said Forbes Burnham did not like white people.  it was also rumored that Forbes Burnham resorted to violence against a white officer of the colonial British Guiana Police Force.  Here is my understanding of the alleged accounts.  Apparently, initially, Forbes Burnham requested the use of the telephone. The officer hesitated honoring the request.   Burnham told the officer, that, he is a Queen’s Council.  The officer refused to comply and made rude remarks with reference to Burnham and African people. Burnham took away a telephone. He began using it. The officer tried to repossess the telephone forcibly. Burnham responded by slapping the cheek of the officer.

There are no revelations in the content. Forbes Burnham danced with President John Kennedy (1917 –1963) and President Lyndon Johnson (1908 –1973), and the Prime ministers of Great Britain; Anthony Eden, (1897 –1977) Harold Macmillan (1894 –1986) Alexander   Douglas-Home, (1903 –1995) and Harold Wilson (1916 – 1995) and their administrations including The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL–CIO). That then, is the methodology, Forbes Burnham embraced and employed. This practice resulted Forbes Burnham becoming the Premier of the Colony of British Guiana in December 1964.  Forbes Burnham was a man who aspired, promoted, and sought his own self interests.  This was accomplished above, over and beyond his circumstances, his ethnicity and/or his racial grouping… Burnham employed, and utilized whoever regardless of the numbers of people to achieve his end. he did so at the expense of the masses… It appears Burnham had little and/or regard for legacy and/or the perception of his legacy.  It seems to me, Burnham’s mantra was simply, “the end results justified the means.”  the life and times and actions of Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham can be accurately summed up as a character who cared only about achieving and maintaining political power. Forbes Burnham was many faced.

I don’t think I could be or would be surprised by anything relative to Forbes Burnham. At this point I am interested and focused on the maternal heritage of Forbes Burnham as it relates to the community of Golden Grove and Nabaclis. who are the ancestors and relatives of Rachael Abigail (nee Sampson) Burnham?

I also believe, at some point, ancestors and other relatives of Hamilton Greene, Shirley Field-Ridley, Walter Rodney, Norman Eustace Cameron, Claude Denbow and Rudolph Dunbar resided at Golden Grove and Nabaclis.  perhaps, a number of relatives of the folks mentioned above are still resident within the community. It is known the grandfather of Eusi Kwayana resided at Bush Corner, in Golden Grove… The grandmother and the mother of Forbes Burnham resided at Bush Corner, in Golden Grove…

James Ethelbert Burnham is the father of Forbes Burnham. He was a schoolmaster at Kitty Methodist School. He possessed Barbadian ancestry…Rachael Abigail Sampson, is the mother of Forbes Burnham. She is a member of the kinship of Sampson which resided at Bush Corner, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara....The Hoyte family which resided at Line Top near the residences of Thomas Henry Benn and Miss Stacia Hollingsworth (Mrs. Stanford Solomon)  at Lama Dam in Nabaclis are members of the kinship of Sampson of Golden Grove….I recall hearing of  Hoyte and Sampson as being wayside preachers in the vicinity of Sandy Street at the Middle Walk in Golden Grove….Such scenes are likely, nonexistent, these days, in the rural communities.

what roles, if any, did the ancestors and relatives of the above played in the development of all phases of life in the community?

I believe and accept there are people who possess the DNA of both Sampson and Sancho. is Forbes Burnham, one of them? I don’t know the   answer to such a question… I think not. I hope not. But I would like to ascertain the answer to such a scenario as soon as possible and as accurately as humanly possible. A number of the people of Sancho; Sydney Marious, Leebert Sancho,  Leeroy Sancho and Richard Cosbert have indicated to me, that there were some relationships between Sampson and Sancho. Thus, the possibility exists that Forbes Burnham may possess the DNA of Sancho. Leebert Sancho also claimed Forbes Burnham had knowledge of Sancho of Berbice. He stated Burnham mentioned that Cort of Rose Hall, on the Coast of the Corentyne River are people of Sancho. Perhaps, Sydney Marious, Leebert Sancho, Leeroy Sancho and Richard Cosbert are not wrong and there is more to the Sampson and Sancho relationship than meets the eyes in the published accounts of a Court Case at the Magistrate Court at Belfield on Wednesday, May 2, 1895.

Before Mr. J. T. Thorne, S.J.P.,  on Wednesday, May 2, 1895,  Neval Taylor, Mars Sancho, Peggy Sampson, Mamzel Sampson, Robert Portsmouth and Dada Sancho were charged by J. M. Griffith, Sergeant, with assembling on the 22nd ult., (Sunday, April 22, 1895) at Golden Grove for some unlawful purpose. they were each ordered to sign bonds of $5, and one surety $5 each for three months, in default one month’s imprisonment. Source: Police News -Belfield; The Daily Chronicle Saturday, May 5, 1895: page 4.

I need to be enlightened…Who are Mars Sancho, and Dada Sancho?  Who are Peggy Sampson, and Mamzel Sampson? How do they relate to Sampson and Sancho?
