Conspiracy to further undermine West Indies cricket

Simmons, Adams, and Harper conspired to use fitness as the camouflage of their assault on Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Sherfane Rutherford, and West Indies cricket.  This POW omitted Sunil Narine because Narine does seem committed to international cricket.

The most confounding reality is; none of the current and former internationals and the administrators of the six affiliates of CWI blasted the administration for their failed fitness test nonsense.

The failed fitness test nonsense is simply a scheme Adams, Harper, and Simmons used to choose mediocre cricketers primarily Barbadians and Trinidadians over better players. Eddie Barlow, Colin Milburn and Ian Botham could not pass that fitness test nonsense. This POW is not surprised West Indian fans bought into that foolishness. West Indian fans and administrators have always been about players from their common region being selected over other players in West Indies teams and squads.  Sobers spoke on that subject years ago. Sobers said he and Weekes conspired to ensure Wes Hall was selected over Tom Dewdney, a Jamaican fast bowler in 1958. Sobers and Weekes attacked Dewdney’s deliveries. However, Sobers and Weekes defended against almost every ball Wes Hall bowled. Hall was selected to tour India and Pakistan. Hall and Butcher made their international debut in the same match.

CWI’s lower management Jimmy Adams, Roger Harper, Phil Simmons, Kieron Pollard and Desmond Haynes choose to attack Hetmyer. Perhaps, Hetmyer having led West Indies to achievement never accomplished -winning world cup under 19 in 2016,  has openly spoke of leading West Indies to further glory as Clive Lloyd did. Instead of nurturing his talent, lower management sought to frustrate Hetmyer and undermine his career and his ambition to lead West Indies to glory years. Otherwise CWI would have admitted they made a grave mistake in hiring Phil Simmons. The record exhibit Phil Simmons is inept inadequate and absolute incapable of motivating west indies cricketers.

This POW is not surprised the following are completely silent on CWI’s treatment of Hetmyer, 2019-2022

  1. Conde Riley and Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) are major part of the problem.
  2. Azim Bassarath and The Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB)
  3. Wilford “Billy” Heaven and Jamaica cricket Association
  4. Bissoondyal Singh Guyana Cricket Board
  5. Enoch Lewis, Leeward Island Cricket Board
  6. Kishore Shallow Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control

None of those occupants of offices in cricket in the region demanded an inquirey into Jimmy Adams, Roger Harper, Phil Simmons, and Desmond Haynes.

This POW was not alarmed when he read “Hetmyer could be lost to West Indies cricket” — Says veteran regional cricket commentator ‘Reds’ Perreira

This POW is not aware Azim Bassarath and/or other CWI and regional administrators, made any statements relative to the observations of Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira some 17 months later the observations of Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira were realized. Hetmyer did not board the transportation to Australia for T20 World Cup 2022. Azim Bassarath chooses to spew venom respecting Hetmyer. Azim Bassarath is never in the best interest of West Indies cricket. Azim Bassarath is the perfect example of the ridiculousness of Cricket West Indies. He circles around Trinidadians. Of coerce most happen to be Indians. However, Azim Bassarath is remarkably silent on the exclusion of spinners from West Indies cricket. Imran Khan, Nikita Miller, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Veerasammy Permaul was outstanding for a number of consecutive years in regional cricket. Yet, they have not been in test teams relative to their performances. On January 7,  2019 Guyana defeated a test player’s dominant Barbados team in Barbados.

Kraigg Brathwaite, Shayne Moseley, Shamarh Brooks (captain), Jonathan Carter, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Miguel Cummins and Jomel Warrican,

Leon Johnson (Captain), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Vishaul Singh, Raymon Reifer, Christopher Barnwell, Sherfane Rutherford, Anthony Bramble, Romario Shepherd, Veerasammy Permaul, Clinton Pestano,

Guyana 548 (Hemraj 144, Bramble 130*, Reifer 75 and Rutherford 54; Nurse  4-122) & 48/4

Barbados 360 (Dowrich 81, Carter 68; Permaul 4-124 Pestano 2-53) & 232 (Chase 68, Dowrich 65; Permaul 4-73, Reifer 3-53 Shepherd 2-35)

January 4-7, 2019; Chandrapaul Hemraj, Anthony Bramble, and Veerasammy Permaul were dominant. They were omitted from Courtney Browne’s choices for the test team. Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Shane Dowrich†, Jason Holder*, Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph and Shannon Gabriel were selected for the test match January 19-23, 2019. Shamarh Brooks, Oshane Thomas and Jomel Warrican were included in the squad for the first two test matches. In the third and final test match; Kraigg Brathwaite and Keemo Paul replaced Jason Holder as captain and all-rounder, respectively. Chandrapaul Hemraj, Anthony Bramble, and Veerasammy Permaul should have been selected instead of John Campbell, Shane Dowrich and Jomel Warrican.

Of course, not a solitary word from Azim Bassarath. And there was also no condemnation from the five other affiliates. Only GCB and BCB barked their objections. This POW realized that possibility during the West Indies tour of New Zealand in winter 2019. Hetmyer endured a concussion. Hope was awful. Pooran was not included in the test team. Instead, Harper selected Pooran to represent West Indies A team. Pooran must have disappointed and disgusted. Pooran has not appeared in a first class match since that tour. This POW was perturbed. Were Hetmyer, Hope and Pooran overmatched by the quicks in conditions suitable for fast bowling? The question has not been answered conclusively.

This POW hopes Shimron Hetmyer records tremendous performances in 2023. He hopes West Indies cricket fans demand Hetmyer be in every international match in 2023. This POW recalls reading of Jamaicans forcing West Indies cricket to include George Headley in the test team; even though they knew Headley was well past his prime.  Phil Simmons is gone from West Indies cricket. However, the behaviors which promote losing West Indies cricket are firmly entrenched. Exchanging personnel is not change. It is superficial/ the problems of West Indies cricket 1995-2022 have not been addressed. This POW charges Richard “Ricky” Skerritt, Kishore Shallow, Jason King, Conde’ Riley, Wilford Heaven, Donovan Bennett, Enoch Lewis, Leon "Kuma" Rodney, Azim Bassarath, Arjoon Ramlal, Dwain Gill, Carol James Henry, Bissoondyal Singh Alanna Medford-Singh, Johnny Grave are all clueless and carless. CWI and its affiliates are guilty of gross incompetence, indifference and negligence. Hence, winning cricket has not been consistently, present in West Indies 1995 -2022. This POW wishes our fast bowlers become as effective as the Andy Roberts bouncer which removed Stephen Camacho and ushered in the rebirth of winning West Indies cricket under Rohan Kanhai in summer 1973. There were only three Barbadians, Gary Sobers, Vanburn Holder, and Keith Boyce in that team. This POW in defence of winning West Indies cricket rests his case.

Debut: West Indies vs Pakistan at Kingston - April 21 - 25, 2017

Last: Afghanistan vs West Indies at Lucknow - November 27 - 29, 2019

CWI Skerritt, Shallow, Adams, Harper, Simmons, Pollard, BCA, JCA, GCB, TTCB, WICBC and LICB are the primary conspirators in the tragedy - three years absence of Hetmyer. It’s deeply regretted; Hetmyer did not choose legal action against CWI.
